ABOUT ANTI-RUST PAINT

1. What is anti-rust paint?

2. Classification

There are two main types of anti-rust paint on the market today:

- 2-component anti-rust paint

One component is anti-rust paint based on Alkyd or Acrylic. The characteristics of 1-component anti-rust paint are cheap, easy to apply, can use gasoline to mix paint during construction. One-component anti-rust paint is available in gray, red, and sepia colors.

Physical properties of 1 component steel structural paint

• Because it is a 1-component paint, it is very easy and convenient to apply
• Paint dries quickly and has good adhesion
• Good rust resistance and color fastness in corrosive environments
• Glossiness: Depending on the paint brand, the gloss is different
• Color: Normally, alkyd steel structure anti-rust paint is gray and reddish brown, while alkyd steel structure coating has more colors to choose from: blue, red, purple, yellow, green, blue, marble, etc.
• Coverage of 1-component steel structure paint: The coverage of paint depends on many factors such as the surface to be painted, the skill of the construction worker, the surface preparation, and the intended use.

Main ingredients of anti-rust paint production:

- Alkyd resin/Acrylic

- Anti-rust pigment

- Filler powder

- Other special additives

- Solvent

2-component anti-rust paint

2-component anti-rust paint is also known as epoxy paint, with good abrasion and impact resistance, weather or chemical resistance, so it is used for projects that require high technical requirements such as systems. bridges and culverts, factory structures, industrial buildings, machinery systems, offshore iron and steel works, used for marine environments such as ships, ships, etc. 

Physical properties of 2-component steel structural epoxy paint

• It is a 2-component epoxy paint: Part A (paint part) and part B (curing agent).
• Steel structure epoxy paint is abrasion resistant with excellent resistance to seawater, crude oil, fuel oil and abrasion. 
• Epoxy paint for steel structures can be applied on both new and old steel 
• Very easy to use, just remove all the impurities on the surface to be painted and then apply the steel structure epoxy paint directly.
• Color: Just like the 1-component alkyd steel structure paint, the steel structure anti-rust epoxy paint has only 2 colors: gray (gray) and red-brown, while the steel structure epoxy coating is more diverse.
• Theoretical coverage: the coverage of external steel structural epoxy paint depends on the paint type, workmanship, surface to be painted, etc., depending on the thickness of the paint film when dry. If the paint film thickness when dry is 100µm, 1kg of epoxy steel structure paint will be painted for 7 to 8m2.

Main ingredients for producing 2-component epoxy paint:

- Epoxy resin 75% Amide curing

- Anti-rust additives (Zinc oxide, zinc phosphate)

- Filler powder

- Solvent
