Industrial wood paint is a paint product with a paint film that can protect the wood texture from environmental impacts such as water intrusion, termites, etc. The wood coating is often diverse in colors and types to meet the various needs of customers.
Classification of wood coating
PU paint
PU stands for polyurethane, which is a hard, strong, and stretchable polymer used as paints and coatings as protection covers. A polyurethane coating is a protection cover for wood, concrete, and wall.
The industrial paint line for PU wood has many outstanding advantages:
- The high-gloss coating makes the material surface bright and easy to clean and limits the occurrence of termites and mold.
- High durability leads to the resistance to ingress from external factors such as temperature, humidity, water, chemicals that affect the wood texture.
- Good adhesion improves durability and protects the surface from peeling or fading
- Good impact resistance helps protect the material surface from being peeled or scratched by external impact.
- Safe and environment-friendly for users without causing unpleasant and harmful paint smell.
However, the disadvantage of industrial PU paint is its high price. So customers should consider carefully before purchasing.
Vinyl Paint
Vinyl paint is a single-component industrial paint that can be used on surfaces of wood and metal. Vinyl paint has a hard, durable coating and is often used as a primer, creating a solid foundation for the next coating layer to provide optimal protection for the surface and texture of the material.
Vinyl paint is commonly used on wood products for the following reasons:
- Quick-drying
- Good paint adhesion
- UV resistant
- Abrasion-resistant
Vinyl industrial paint is glossy paint with no color, so it is more likely a protection layer than decorating one. Customers should use Vinyl paint as a primer and then add another color coating if needed.

N.C paint
N.C paint is based on Nitrocellulose, a specially modified short oil alkyd resin which is commonly used for interior furniture. NC paint film is thin and light, however, it is strong enough to maintain the wood texture for a long time.
Advantages of the industrial coating line for industrial NC coating are:
- The Nitrocellulose painted floor
- Various colors, meeting the aesthetic needs of customers.
- Good adhesion
- High solid content
- Non-toxic, environment-friendly, and safe for children
However, industrial N.C paint has a low hardness and low impact resistance. Moreover, industrial NC paint is easy to discolor under sunlight, so it is often used for wooden furniture.

Oil coating
This is an oil-based industrial paint with the main ingredient from anti-rust alkyd resin. The oil-based coating is derived from nature and has extremely high adhesion to the wood surface. Industrial oil coating exists in a viscous liquid form with a durable and dust-resistant paint film.
Industrial oil coating is often used on a wooden surface because of many outstanding advantages such as:
- High hardness and scratch resistance
- High gloss, easy to remove dirt and mold.
- Good adhesion, no discoloration or fading
- Easy to apply with quick-dry paint during the painting process.
Industrial oil coating is recommended to be used with full protective gear and tools because the paint is not friendly to the environment and contains a lot of harmful substances that can lead to dizziness, nausea, fainting for the construction worker.
Varnish
Varnish can be considered as a traditional industrial coating used for wood materials before PU and N.C paint. Varnish is still commonly used for natural wood surface due to the following benefits:
- Low price compared to other industrial paints
- High gloss, high dust resistance, and easy to clean.
- Improve the shine and smoothness of the material.
At present, when new industrial coatings are produced, the varnish paint reveals more disadvantages:
- No various color
- Quickly fade
- Complicated painting process
The role of wood paint
With only a few tens of micrometers thick, wood coating plays an extremely important role in the finishing step of the product. Especially in the extreme climate of Vietnam, a protective coating is essential for the wooden surface. Besides, a wood coating is also diverse in types, features, and colors, suitable for both indoor and outdoor materials.
Currently, Mega Vietnam Chemical Company has been developing many wood coating products Especially short-oil Sanmu Alkyd resin (China) along with hardener sets imported directly from famous brands such as Bayer (Germany). With a trustworthy origin of products and an experienced team, Mega is believed to become the best partner in coating production.
