LEARN ABOUT THE WOOD PAINT PROCESS ON FURNITURE

Natural wooden furniture has always brought a luxurious beauty, very attracting users because they have a given beauty that is difficult to replace by artificial. However, in order to promote the beauty of the wood, as well as to better protect the wood surface, a finishing paint will be applied to the surface. The type of paint that we often hear about is PU paint. Here are some steps in the common PU coating process, please read and follow the article with us

1. Sanding and treating the wood surface

After satisfactory sanding with sandpaper, depending on the required paint color, whether to leave the wood grain or paint glossy will decide whether to put powder or not. However, the majority of PU coating systems use glossy surface paint. When making powder residue, it is also important to pay attention to whether the paint samples are required to show wood grain lines or not? If so, the pulp must be a color powder (usually black or brown). This pulping step is necessary to fill in the heartwood as well as minor surface defects.  Failure to do this step will take a lot of effort and materials to fill these gaps after painting.

2. Primer

Apply the first primer layer to the treated surface. Primer is a colorless paint, painted directly on the treated wood surface in step 1. While applying a primer layer, you should pay attention to the ambient temperature to mix in the most appropriate ratio. When applying primer, it is necessary to paint evenly to not create air bubbles on the surface of the product.

3. Re-sanding and applying 2nd primer layer

Continuing to sand, the painters believe that the second primer will increase the smoothness of the wood surface to help paint a more beautiful color, and the surface will be smoother. This step can ensure a longer product life. To have a beautiful PU coating process, the painters follow the order of steps. The ratio should be used exactly like step 2. Drying time is 25 - 30 minutes.

4. Color spray

Spray color to create product color. This is the decisive step to the color of the product, so the color mixing by computer or directly is taken care of by experienced painters. The product is painted twice in a closed room, avoiding dust or air circulation.

5. Surface polishing

After completing step 4, wait for the paint to dry, a layer of paint is applied to the color paint layer to create gloss for the surface of the product, making the surface of the product stretchy and beautiful, improving the product value.

6. Preservation

Leave the product after completing the PU coating process in a dry place for 12 to 16 hours for the whole painting process. PU paint resists water very well and also makes wooden furniture products more beautiful and prominent, but still attracts dust, so you have to regularly wipe the dust.
