TITANIUM DIOXIDE AND APPLICATIONS

1. What is Titanium Dioxide?

Titanium dioxide commonly known as white titanium has the chemical formula TiO2, which is derived from ilmenite, rutile, and anatase. Titanium dioxide is insoluble in acids such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc. However, with its nano size, it can participate in some reactions with strong acids and alkalis.

Titanium dioxide exists in the form of a powder and is snow-white in color and has been used for about 100 years in a large number of diverse products. Titanium dioxide has non-toxic, non-reactive, luminous properties that safely increase the whiteness and luminosity of many materials.

2. Applications of Titanium dioxide

2.1 Paint industry

Titanium Dioxide powder has high anti-corrosion properties, so it is used to make paints for construction works, bridges, and equipment against atmospheric corrosion.

Products with chemical resistance, high heat resistance, and waterproof should be used to paint aircraft shells, ships, and equipment immersed in water.

Titanium Dioxide pigment coating film has mechanical strength and should be used to prime pressure equipment.

Specially used to mix some other formulas to make the hulls of spacecraft or stealth aircraft.

2.2 Plastic, plastic, synthetic rubber industry:

TiO2 has high turbidity and dispersion, so it is used in engineering plastics, synthetic resins, rubber technology, and paper technology.

TiO2 is widely used in the manufacture of automobile and bicycle tires. People use TiO2 as a filler for rubber at the rate of 10 15%.

TiO2 is also used to make rubber tarpaulins. Other rubbers such as thin-film rubber, vulcanized rubber, regenerated rubber, chlorinated rubber, etc. all use TiO2 as filler.

In the plastic industry, TiO2 is used as a pigment, opacity, and stabilizer in polyethylene, polypropylene, and PVC.

Mega Vietnam General Trading Co., Ltd is a supplier and distributor of Titanium Dioxide chemicals with popular codes: R216, B101, 828, etc. The product has the effect of creating high gloss, wetting, and dispersion, and good weather resistance. It is especially used in outdoor water-based paints, varnishes, and printing inks with high weather resistance.
