ZINC-RICH EPOXY PAINT

1. Definition

Zinc-rich epoxy paint is a two-component polyamide-cured epoxy-based zinc-rich coating. Zinc-rich paints have a very high zinc content and solids percentage, providing excellent corrosion resistance in a complete coating system.

Zinc-rich epoxy paint is used as an anti-rust coating in harsh, highly corrosive atmospheres, and also as a coating on carbon steel surfaces or to repair inorganic zinc coatings and zinc-coated corrugated areas and damaged galvanized corrugated iron areas, galvanized iron paint.

Zinc-rich anti-rust primer can be applied at surface temperatures down to 0°C. Zinc-rich epoxy paint conforms to ASTM D520 type II for zinc powder. Can be used as a primer for a complete coating system for atmospheric metals, buried metals and water immersion.

The protection level of zinc-rich anti-rust primer is good at C4 and C5, C5M. Highly durable in C5-I environments. Environmental classification according to the standard: ISO 12944-2.

2. Intended use of zinc-rich epoxy paint

2.1. In the industrial paint industry of steel structures

Suitable for steel structures and piping systems located in corrosive environments with protection class C5- I or C5 - M according to ISO 12944-2. It is because zinc-rich epoxy primer protects iron and steel surfaces to the highest degree that it is recommended for use in

- Used for marine and marine environment: boats, rigs, etc.

- Used for machine structures and steel floor frames of oil refineries, power plants, mines, etc.

- Used for steel structures of steel bridges, cable-stayed bridges, steel beams, high-rise buildings, etc.

- Used in mining equipment and conventional iron and steel structures

Zinc-rich epoxy paint is specifically designed as an anti-rust coating in a complete coating system for areas where high durability, long maintenance time is required.

2.2. Principle of protection of iron and steel of zinc-rich paint

- Zinc-rich epoxy paint protects against rust and corrosion of metal steel by electrochemical effect, ie the pigment in the paint film will react with water vapor and form a protective coating on the iron and steel surface.

- The zinc powder component in the paint will create a deep and strong adhesion to the surface of iron and steel structures at high strength, so it is used to protect steel structures in environments with high abrasion and corrosion.

- In fact, under the influence of the environment, metal is eroded, corroded in the air, in the soil, or in the flooded area, making the life of the building degraded quickly, Especially the form of point rust, uneven hole rust reduces the load capacity of the structure and the life of the building.

On the other hand, in our country, the cost of anti-corrosion protection is still very low, often spending the cost of conventional anti-rust coating methods, so many works after a few years of use have to be upgraded and maintained. A new technological solution is zinc-rich epoxy paint, which is currently evaluated by domestic and foreign experts as the most superior technology, capable of replacing hot-dip galvanizing technology in protecting iron and steel structures. not corrode, rust, improve the quality of the work, etc.
