ACETON PRICE DECREASED MORE THAN 2% IN ONE DAY

The price of acetone, a chemical used in nail polish removers and super glue removers, on July 12th in China was 5,100 yuan/ton ($757/ton), down more than 2% compared to the previous day. The price of this item has continuously decreased since mid-June and is currently 17% lower than its peak.

Urea prices fell by nearly 1% to 2,684 yuan/ton ($398/ton). The price of this item has decreased since mid-June and is currently more than 20% lower than its peak.

Meanwhile, DAP continued to move sideways at 4,700 yuan/ton ($700/ton). 

Some raw materials in fertilizer production also moved sideways. Yellow phosphorus was at 34,600 yuan/ton ($5,138/ton). The price of this item has continuously decreased since the beginning of July and is currently about 8% lower than its peak. 

The sulfur price was 2,773 yuan/ton ($411/ton), unchanged from the previous day. The price of this item has decreased continuously since mid-June and is currently about 30% lower than its peak.

Acetone price in China

Regarding the domestic market, according to 2Nong, facing world fluctuations, Vietnam's fertilizer market is facing many challenges, from import prices to production fuel costs and high transportation costs.

According to 2Nong, transportation costs have actually increased due to supply chain disruptions over the past two years. However, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has made this issue even more challenging. Currently, the price of spot sea freight between the US and China has increased by nearly 3.5 times in the period from January 2020 to May this year. This contributes to making potash fertilizers, which are completely dependent on imports, incur additional costs and are difficult to cool down.

A survey in the North of 2Nong shows that Canadian potash is priced at 860,000 to 880,000 VND/bag. Phu My Kali ranges from 850,000 to 880,000 VND/bag. 

DAP Hong Ha has slowed down and the price is currently ranging from 1.34-1.39 million VND/bag of 50 kg. DAP Dinh Vu price in An Giang is 1.12 million VND/bag of 50 kg. Ca Mau urea in An Giang is 785,000 VND/bag of 50 kg.
