What is oil-based epoxy paint?

Oil-based epoxy paint is also known as solvent-based epoxy paint. This product is made from two-components that are mostly used for concrete floors. Workshops, factories, and industrial factories often require a perfectly stable concrete foundation structure. Therefore, solvent-based epoxy paint is the correct choice.

Advantages

• Anti-dust and easy to clean
• The price is lower compared to water-based epoxy paint
• Glossier finish 
• Impact resistance

Disadvantages

• High VOC evaporates during construction causing odors 
• The humidity of oil-based epoxy paint can only be tolerated at 5-8%. For areas with high humidity> 10%, it is mandatory to switch to other paint lines.
• Humidity tolerance is between 5-8%. Above 10% humidity, we need to change to other paint.

Water-based epoxy paint

Water-based epoxy is a two-component, amine-cured, epoxy coating that will demonstrate the physical properties of solvent-borne epoxies, but in a water-reducible formula. The function of water-based epoxy paint is for coating concrete floor, wall, and metal. 

Advantages

• Anti-dust and easy to clean
• Good impact resistance
• No harm for health, no paint odor
• Suitable for use in a humid environment

Disadvantages

• Less glossy than oil-based epoxy paint
• Higher price compared to oil-based epoxy paint
