CURING AGENT FOR PU 2K PAINT

1. What is a curing agent?

This is an additive that can cure surface coatings. Enhance impact resistance and good elasticity. At the same time, conceal the defects to increase the aesthetics and good elasticity. Especially curing agent for PU is resistant to chemicals, weather, etc.

The curing agent for PU has high elasticity and gives the wood product smoothness and prevents the coating from peeling at high temperatures by increasing the heat resistance of the painted surface. In addition, the PU curing agent has very good adhesion, helping to bond the paint to the wood surface.

The PU hardener also increases the hardness of the wood surface, but still retains the natural, smooth look of your family's wooden furniture. Not only that, the PU hardener also prolongs the life of wood products, both indoors and outdoors, by increasing better wear resistance. Due to its perfect moisture and alkali resistance, it is resistant to termites.

2. What types of curing agents are commonly used in the oil painting industry?

In the oil painting industry in general, the two main types of curing agents (hardening) that are commonly used or misunderstood are TDI and HDI.

+ Adduct from TDI: The product synthesized from TDI is easy to react to, forms a film with high hardness, good solvent, and chemical resistance, and is relatively cheap. However, under the influence of weather, the film turns yellow, becomes brittle, and eventually decomposes. Therefore, this product is often used for primers, chemical-resistant wood paints, paints for furniture, etc.

+ Biuret from HDI: Products from HDI, for flexibility, weather resistance, and good chemical resistance, are less prone to yellowing. But the hardness and drying time are less than Adduct from TDI. Often used for exterior paint, anti-yellowing paint, paint that needs weather resistance, etc.

+ In addition, it is possible to mix between 2 types of TDI and HDI to form semi-yellow curing. Overcoming some disadvantages of TDI, the price is cheaper than the HDI line.
