VIETNAM BECOMES THE BIGGEST RUBBER SUPPLIER TO INDIA
According to the Indian Ministry of Commerce, in the first two months of 2022, India imported 26.16 thousand tons of rubber from Vietnam, worth US$52.09 million, up 45.4% in production and 59% in value over the same period in 2021.
Rubber imported from Vietnam accounted for 13.2% of India's total rubber imports, up sharply compared to 8.9% in the same period in 2021. And with the above market share, Vietnam is the largest rubber supplier to India.
In 2021, Vietnam is the third-largest market for rubber supplies to India (in terms of volume) after Indonesia and South Korea.
In the category of natural rubber, Vietnam is also the largest supplying market for India in the first two months of 2022 with 26.06 thousand tons, worth US$51.89 million, up 46.9% in production and increased 61.4% in value over the same period in 2021. Vietnam's natural rubber market share in India's total imports accounted for 26.9%, up sharply compared to 23.5% in the same period in 2021.

In the first two months of this year, India imported 198.28 thousand tons of rubber, worth $424.35 million, down 1.9% in production, but up 14.4% in value over the same period in 2021.
Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea, and Thailand are the 5 largest markets supplying rubber to India. Except for Indonesia and South Korea, rubber imports from these markets both increased sharply in both production and value over the same period in 2021.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first quarter of 2022, Vietnam's rubber exports to India reached 28.76 thousand tons, worth $52.54 million, up 40.7% in production and 41.9 percent in value over the same period in 2021.
