ANTIMONY TRIOXIDE AND FIREPROOF APPLICATIONS

Antimony trioxide (Sb2O3) is a chemical used in industry and also occurs in the natural environment. It is the most important commercial compound of the element Antimony.

This compound is commonly found in nature in the form of mineral valentine and senarmonite. Like most other metal oxides, Antimony trioxide (Sb2O3) can be dissolved in aqueous solutions containing mercury.

More than 80% of Antimony trioxide (Sb2O3) is used as a fireproof additive for many different plastics, rubbers and fibers. They are usually mainly used to polymerize chemical catalysts. This fireproof chemical is often used in household items such as mattresses, furniture and carpets that may contain antimony trioxide (Sb2O3).
