Properties

2,2'-dithiobis benzothiazole is a cream to light yellow powder, odorless, non-toxic. It is soluble in benzene, chloroform, acetone and insoluble in water. Commercial products of 2,2'-dithiobis benzothiazole differ from each other in the ability to dissolve in acetone and alcohol.

Application 

In the rubber industry, rubber accelerator MBTS (DM) has the following application :

• It is used in sulfur vulcanization for natural rubber and synthetic rubber at 140 °C. Below 120 °C, rubber accelerators have an average effect but are safe for shaping and rolling use.
• Active or be activated by guanidine and thiuram accelerators 
• Improve vulcanization of butyl rubber with dioxime quinone or quinone dibenzoate
