LEARN ABOUT DOTP PLASTICIZERS

Plasticizer Dioctyl terephthalate (bis(2-Ethylhexyl) benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate or Di(2-Ethylhexyl) terephthalate) (DOTP) is an organic compound with the molecular formula C6H4(C8H17COO)2. DOTP is a phthalate-free plasticizer banned under European and US regulatory lists. DOTP in liquid, viscous form is used to plasticize PVC. With good plasticizing properties, DOTP is used to directly replace DOP in many applications.

DOTP does not increase microscopic liver enzyme peroxidation while according to some studies DOP does. It is an environmentally friendly plasticizer for PVC. Can be substituted for DOP and used in human-related products.

 DOTP is highly resistant to electricity and heat, it can be used to replace DOP in PVC wire sheaths as well as in the production of artificial skin screens. DOTP plays a role in improving product stiffness and deformation, so it can be used to reduce cut-back asphalt in the production of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber, chloroprene rubber, and EPDM. DOTP has a good plasticizing effect and low volatility is widely used in products requiring high heat resistance and high insulation. It is the ideal plasticizer for cable materials with a temperature resistance of 70°C and other PVC products with resistance to volatilization.

DOTP is also used in paints or coatings of furniture and interior decorations. Used in nitrocellulose varnishes, paper softeners, polyester amide bidirectional films, construction plastic films and plasma storage bags. Due to its linear molecular structure with DOS and DOA, DOTP has excellent cold tolerance.
