RUBBER ACCELERATORS

Rubber accelerators are the type of substance that enhances vulcanization, giving the rubber a higher technical performance.

There are two types of rubber accelerators:

1. Inorganic accelerator

The most commonly used accelerator is ZnO (A1C), which is a less toxic, common, cheap, and high stability white powder. It does not discolor rubber and cause oxidation. The vulcanization activating effect of ZnO is even more effective if there is a small amount of organic fatty acids such as Stearic Acid (A2) or Acid Olic due to the formation of complexes among ZnO, Fatty acids and the vulcanization.

Pay attention to the PbO content because the high PbO content is easy to self-save and discolor the product due to the formation of PbS. When using a high amount of ZnO, rubber has good heat transfer properties.

For Chloroprene rubber, MgO is used to replace ZnO as the accelerator in the formula.

2. Organic accelerator (stearic acid)

Stearic acid is a granular or flaky yellow agent. Stearic acid can soften and disperse black coal, creating a favorable environment for lamination, and extrusion.
