THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BLACK CHARCOAL AND ACTIVE CHARCOAL
The basic difference between carbon black and activated carbon is that the surface area to volume ratio of carbon black is lower than that of activated carbon.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BLACK CHARCOAL AND ACTIVE CHARCOAL
1. What is black coal?
Black coal is also known as black carbon is an adsorbent formed from the incomplete combustion of heavy petroleum products. Heavy petroleum products that can be used as a source of black coal production are FCC tar, coal tar, ethylene tar, etc.
Black coal contains only carbon atoms, appears as a black powder and is insoluble in water. The molar mass of black coal is 12 g/mol. All black coals have chemically absorbed oxygen complexes. For example carboxylic, quinic, lactonic. These complexes are located on the surface of the black coal particles. Depending on the conditions and manufacturing steps, the levels of these complexes on the grain surface vary. These surface compounds are considered volatile species. Because of the volatile nature of the complexes, coal powder is a non-conductive material.
There are many applications of black coal. It is mainly an important reinforcing material. It is used as a reinforcing filler for tires and other rubber products. In addition, it is also used as a pigment in paints, plastics, printing inks, etc. Charcoal of plant origin is useful as a food coloring agent.

2. What is activated carbon?
Activated carbon is an adsorbent derived from charcoal. This material is made of carbon atoms and it has a very high surface area to volume ratio. It contains low-volume pores that increase the surface area of the substance, allowing it to absorb the material as much as possible.
There are many uses of activated carbon. It is useful in the storage of methane and hydrogen, air purification by adsorption, solvent recovery, decaffeination, gold refining, metal extraction, poisoning, and overdose treatment, mixing static for chromatographic separation techniques, etc.
3. The difference between black charcoal and activated carbon
The basic difference between carbon black and activated carbon is that the surface area to volume ratio of carbon black is lower than that of activated carbon. These are called paracrystalline carbon compounds. This difference is the cause of the difference in application between carbon black powder and activated carbon. Also, black coal is produced from the incomplete combustion of heavy petroleum products while activated carbon is produced from charcoal.
Currently, Mega Chemical Vietnam has been providing a number of black coal for the plastic rubber industry such as N220, N330, MB N330, N660, N774 with stable quality and reasonable price.
